One of the best ways to get to know Ilocano culuture (if you do not have the luxury of time to go around the entire province) is by visiting Gameng: Museo Ilocos Norte .

The Museum is about a block away from the town plaza and is housed in a restored tabacalera, a factory of sorts for tobacco back in the Spanish era. The museum houses artifacts that were collected from all over the province and displayed as close to reality as possible. Visitors to the museum get a glimpse of Ilocanos and how they coax a living out of the land and the sea. A gift shop at the rear of the museum makes it ideal stop for tourists looking for great shopping deals.
