Municipality of Vintar

Vintar, the second largest among the town of the province, is situated eight kilometers northeast of Laoag City. Its boundaries extend to Bangui in the north, Piddig on the east, Sarrat on the southeast, Bacarra on the west, Pasuquin on the northwesr, and the province of Apayao on the northeast.
The town consists of an area of 62,485 hectares of arable and mountainous lands. Dangerous rivers and towering mountains act as barriers. Amidst these natural barriers are two fertile valleys – namely Surong Valley and Pallas Valley, which are the sources of livelihood of the people.
Vintar experiences two different seasons, the dry and wet seasons. The dry season is from November to April, while the wet season is from May to October. The place is also visited annually by typhoons.
Economic Development.
Agriculture is the main source of livelihood of the people, Rice, tobacco, onion, garlic and vegetables are produced by the farmers. Some farmers plant cotton. The native wine, basi, is produced by some farmers out of the fermented sugarcane juice.
Fishing is a secondary occupation of residents near bodies of water. Bamboocraft, like basketry, is done in a limited scale by some residents. Cloth weaving is done also by the people. The residents in the mountain areas engage in hunting.
